Routine & Timetable

Another half term has flown by and we are now exicted and ready to enter the third half term of the year.

Who Lives in a Place Like This? 

Our topic on habitats will begin with a focus on Meerkat Mail by Emily Gravett. 

A new change to the staff team is Mrs Root how will coninute her Wednesday afternoons but will aslo be working every morning in the class with small groups of children. 

This half term we are lucky to have Miss Brewster a trainee teacher working alongside the adukts in the class.  

Reading- we are continuing to work on the reading reward scheme. Now we have five steps on display within the classroom. The children can move themselves up everyday if they have read at home to help them receive their weekly reading star. 

Spellings- these will be linked to the spellings we are learning that week in class. Please practice these regularly throughout the week, to ensure your child is ready for the test on a Friday morning. 

PE will continue to be on a Tuesday and Friday afternoon. 

Welcome back for the second half term. 

What an amazing first half term it was!!!! All children settled in quickly and are working hard. 

There are some changes to the staff within Squirrels class. We would like to welcome Mrs Magee, who will be teaching on a Monday and Tuesday with Mrs Howlett teaching the rest of the week. Mrs Root will continue to teach for part of Monday morning and all of Wednesday afternoon. 

Mrs Bate will continue to support the class on a Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday morning. 

Our daily routine-

Maths feedback- looking at feedback given from the previous days learning.

Reciting of time tables that will be tested weekly. 

Maths- using our Maths No Problem textbooks we will be doing alot of practical learning finding about numbers and the four operations this term. 

English- focussing on narratives- The Baker's Boy and The Great Fire is the text we are currently exploring.

Guided reading - exploring texts, raising and answering questions around the text. 

SPAG- spelling, grammar and punctuation. 

Science, History, Geography, Computing, Art, PSHE, Music and Design Technology will be taught throughout the afternoons in the week.

PE- will be on a Tuesday and Friday afternoon.

Our class is made up of Mrs Howlett on a Tuesday, Wednesday morning, Thursday and Friday, Mrs Root all day Monday and Wednesday afternoon and Mrs Bate Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday mornings.
